Estimation and Optimization for System Availability Under Preventive Maintenance

Engineers design systems to be reliable and work fulfil their missions without failure for a specific period. However, the system components deteriorate with time lead its failures. A frequent increases management costs, hence posing challenge decision-makers. Therefore, avoidance of failures, preventive maintenance is necessary. The objective any manufacturing firm maximize profit minimize costs. interval can optimized if system’s availability maximized cost function minimized. This study evaluates continuous operating series-parallel under fixed environment. multiobjective model formulated system. illustrated numerical example solved using goal programming (GP), fuzzy (FGP), genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO) techniques. results are compared robust statistical test and, PSO proves better. simulation was carried out further evaluate R MATLAB packages.
